While working on the large water tower at Namwala Secondary School in Zambia, electrician George Mubiana took several pictures of the Kafue Floodplain from the tower. This allowed him to see the extent of the flooding after the extensive rainy season. The Kafue Plains are 200km long and max. 60km wide and was flooded every year before the construction of the Itezhi Tezhi Dam. Since 1976, the water is dammed at Itezhi Tezhi and therefore the plain is only flooded during extraordinary rainy seasons. For comparison, I have attached pictures from August 2015, from the dry season.
