The first major orange harvest

On 9 November, oranges from the school orchard were distributed to the pupils for the third time this year. On this occasion, memories come back to July 2010 when the first trees were planted. It was a long way: three times we tried to build a fence till we had the one which gave enough protection. Irrigation has always been a problem for us: now we have three open water reservoirs. And again and again we had to fight against plant diseases, but this year we could really harvest! Teacher Chris Munachonga is now responsible for the garden. Mr. Dennis Mainza, a planter from Maala, 50 km away, is his advisor.
